Kicker Warhorse

Yeah it might be efficient, but it has a lot of distortion!

"it amplifies audio signal directly to DVC subwoofers from the patent-pending, signal-modulated power supply, rather than relying on help from amplification circuits found in traditional Class D or Class A/B designs. This results in efficiency ratings unheard of in mobile audio – 90-percent efficiency at a 2-ohm load and 93-percent efficiency at a 4-ohm load at full power! "

RMS Power in Watts

@14.4V, 2O Mono, =1.5% THD+N 10000 x 1

@14.4V, 4O Mono, =1.5% THD+N 5000 x 1

Check out those THD specs! Luckily its for subwoofers or that would be a pretty noisy amp!

Hey LA_CRX.......Where's the pics of said amp with username below?

I just ordered it...I hope it shows up Friday...I can't wait to try this as a daily beater

Golden ears? Try turning your home stereo up to 70% volume with NO material playing. Hear that hiss? That's your signal to noise ratio. Now, imagine playing music through that hiss and having EVERY little blip, click, pop, and digital wonk sound coming through at 5000+ watts.

There's a reason subs sound a lot louder, fuller, and cleaner on a huge *** class A/B amp pushed at 0.1% THD compared to one running at 5%. You can always rate it like the old Rockford Punch 45 amps at 10% THD and have a loud setup that sound hollow and noisy! Real balla there!

I'm sure you won't hear it, so it should be fine..... Personally, if it was up around 5-10%, I would be thinking twice. I'm sure it will absolutely pound with that sub!

Super jealous, wish I had the cash to blow right now. Trying to decide if I want to go with a DDZ 18 or 4 SA-8s...

lol nice

So what does this have to do with the "horrible" 1.5% distortion that the amp is rated at?

Yes, because that's 50 times the amount of distortion. And most would say that the distorted dignal would be fuller or warmer, like with tube amps that distort the signal on purpose.

I'm arguing the difference between the standard 1% ratings and this amps 1.5% ratings.
