The whole thing is hilarious, but 4:40 made me think of your quote...till i realized you said pryor, and I was thinking Coleman. Oh well kinda drunk right now. Either way that link is funnyExactly.
Richard Pryor is still old and dat nigqas stuff will still make oyu laugh.
Thank you! That's what I'm talking about in a nutshell. I play a lot of electric guitar and all my equipment has a different sound or 'tone' to it. Just like RAM_Designs was hinting about with tube amps and THD. A tube amp is an extremely noisy amp, but it does add harmonics that make a more thick sound to your tone...its that distortion fuzz that over driving a tube amp makes. It has a "round" tone compared to a harsh transistor scratch distortion (sharper sawtooth on the o-scope). Long story short, every amp, speaker, cabinet, cable, and of course guitar itself all affects the tone. In car audio, the equipment is a lot more clean, but if you A/B a lot of equipment, you can hear a difference. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifI agree completely. I hook a lot of car audio amps up in my house, and the thd is made very obvious with a proper pair of speakers. I hook my amps up through a kinetic to my Infinity RS 2.5's, and those speakers have the ability to easily display the quality of any musical nuance. Hooked up to my 1988 Sony car amp, I notice absolutely zero distortion, so I'm guessing the thd must be extremely low. However, when I hook up an Earthquake PA series amp, the distortion is very prevalent. At first i thought the caps were bad, but it seems that it's just high thd...
But if the car is running and you have a 60+ db noise floor, do you really expect to notice that? especially when most of the time the system will be run at 120 dbThank you! Can't wait to see what a single 18 does on that kind of power! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I fully agree with you that house is more important and sounds better than car... but the thread was about a car amp. And to get a car amp to run at 8 ohms and put out the power necessary to power subs these days is unreasonableNo, that's why I said it doesn't really matter. I actually listen to my stuff in my house more than my cars, believe it or not. I spend about 1-2 hours in my car a day and don't even have a decent system in it right now. I have a 105AH deep cycle backed up by a 40-amp power supply as a 'charger' to power my sub amp in my living room. However, if you run an amp at say 1/4 - 1 ohm load and listen to it compared to 2-4 ohm load, the sound is a lot more full and 'big' compared to just being powerful.
Wow, are we like brothers from another mother or something? You are explaining my life as if it were yours lolNo, that's why I said it doesn't really matter. Better watch your rides at shows. Once they find out you are LACRX, haterade will be pouring:celebra:I may find out what my Warhorse will do on a some 8's in a couple of weeks at Turkey drags....
D*mn PomsForgive me for a sec.... YA YA YA YA! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I was on turkey break. Finally someone finally acknowledges the sound/tone difference between loads and amplifiers... It seems like every time I bring this up, someone says I have golden ears, even though I consider myself deaf. I'm not trying to start a pissing match. Just trying to encourage people to go out there and try a bunch of stuff back to back. Let your ears be the judge. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I love what we're able to do in car audio. I also get a kick out of the guys who gets 160+ DB out of a Single sub. Check out the guys in the UK....It seems they are able to do a lot with tile and all kinds of reinforcements that help them exceed what we're doing here. They're also doing it with a Lot less than 10KW too!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif
