Kicker L5 15" Sounds Weird, What Could It Be?

J

He never mentioned a prefab...Im guessing you thought i meant a pre fab.

The L5 being a kicker may sound ****** gettimg loud, but is louder then a p3.

purchasing a custom box with recommended specs used by what most use would come out alright.

Hes not looking for numbers. Whats your problem always attacking people to purchase what you feel is good.

If he wants the L5 to work then let him.

I see nothing wrong with his choice.. not everyone wants to buy a dd or jl.
So you think ONE L5 which is a square CVR will be louder lower than TWO P3 12s? A 500 watt sub vs two 600 watt subs on a 1200 watt amp... That's not attacking anyone so keep your butthurt to yourself.

Not fueling any fire, but it's Solo Baric L5. Step down from L7

I wish I could get a higher end system, but I'm only 19. I would like to just fix the L5 if I could. I'm lookin for low-end, and the 15" L5 seems to hit much lower than my 2 12" P3's thus far.
Put those 12s in 4.5 cubes net, tune at 32hz with 63sq inches of port. That L5 won't stand a chance.

Yes.

The P3's are also only DVC 2ohm. They are only wired to 2ohm final. The L5 is DVC 2ohm. It is wired to 1ohm.
Ok. It's still only a 400-500 watt sub. Small coil, small motor, no excurrsion. It's only going to do so much. One of your P3s has more motor force. Two P3s is more cone area, more motor force by far, more coil, more excurrsion= way more output.

They're tuned to 36hz. I didn't get a new box because I didn't think just subtracting a few hz would make a huge difference.
a few hertz makes the biggest difference man. Use Winisd and you'll see how big of a difference it makes. tuned to 36 means it rapidly drops off at 36hz. Tune it to 30-33hz and there will be a huge difference. Along with properly powering your subs, with Impedance rise, you are only feeding around 250-300 watts rms to each sub. Either drop to half ohm or sell some stuff to get going with a good system.

Why is this the first time I have seen this program. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

Just remember that program does not take in account the vehicles cabin gain. It will give you a rough idea but real world will not match that graph.

from the site? those designs are good man, they work. Just when you have 18s and 15s, you'll have to swim on your own with the designs.
Using these plans you gave me before: *OFFICIAL* Free Ported Box Plans (56k NO!!) - SRT Forums - SRT4, SRT6, SRT8, SRT10 & Dodge Forum

So you don't think it would make a difference if I used the program to make a box for my 2, HDS312s then using the last 5cu foot box plan on that list?

The program doesnt actually design the box for you, it just shows you how the sound signature might look like at different cubic feet and port tunings. The actual design and cutout sheet, you have to figure out yourself with pen, paper and math.
I know that, I'm talking about the DB advntage of tuning to a different frequency and using a bigger box etc, would it be worth it if I am not burping etc..
