Kicker L5 15" Sounds Weird, What Could It Be?

Typical kicker sound being a squashed almost distorted sound? Lolol
I'm gonna try to be optimistic and just assume it's the box leaking air. Seems like the most likely thing in my scenario. I'll test that out tomorrow. And yeah, it really is a distorted sound. Perfect description!

Yep. If he is use to hear those P3 then it's going to sound like that.
Is the quality of the two types of subs really THAT different? Lol I just assumed something was going wrong with the Kicker in that video.

The P3s are good sounding subs. The Kickers, not so much.
But, being the obnoxious 19yr old that I am, I am looking for rattle-your-brain lows. The L5 delivers that actually, but it sounds like it's gonna crap out at certain notes.

If you think that sub hits lows you have a long way to go. It takes excurrsion, motor force, power.. Three things that don't have

Yeah kickers get loud but need big boxes and don't usually sound great. An average person won't notice it but if you've heard good sound quality subs then you'll hear it. My OAs aren't great sq but idc lol

Well, I've been comparing it to the 2 P3's @2ohm final. The L5 hits lower. But, the P3's appear "louder".

Lol this is off topic but I remember when I thought 38 hz was low lol. That's when I had 2 CVR 12s in a kicker ported box tuned to 40 hz hahaha

What size OA's? I contemplated getting a 15". For the moment, the P3's are staying in the car until that L5 straightens it's act up lol

And that's just about where I'm at. Lol. I can finally play a decaf song or two :p

I run 4 OA 15s. For the price I like em. Haven't ran full power though because my new alternator hasn't came in yet. But I think they'd satisfy anyone looking for bass on the cheap. 160$ or whatever it is for a 15 is a good price lol.

All I have heard is positive stuff about them. May have to give them a shot. Also, off topic, but has anyone heard of/used DBXI Earthquake 15's? I have a chance to get one and the xmax looks to be massive.

Are the P3s in a ported prefab? A sealed box can play lower. They can play down to the amps cut off
They are in a ported custom. Between 40-55hz, the P3's are deafening. Not low hitting, at all actually, but they are loud.
