Kicker L5 15" Sounds Weird, What Could It Be?

How big is that hole the wire is going through. It looks like a 2 inch hole. If so that box thinks it ported. Tuned really high and creating all sorts of fun mechanical noise because it's unloading. What do your voice coils read?

The hole is 2.25" in diameter. I have since put a terminal in that spot. It still seems to to the noise shown in the video. I'll read the coils in a second and get back to you.

It seems to be pretty sturdy. I do believe the inside is also sealed with a sealant of some sort. The box's dimensions is (DxWxH) 13.5 x 32.5 x 23 . The box seems to be made by a complete nimrod though. The pieces aren't flush with eachother. I originally picked it up for $120 (sub and box).

U should put that thing in a prefab box and call it done. Jk
It sounds like its not fully sealed?
If you watched the video, does that noise sound like something common with boxes that aren't fully sealed?

Take out the sub and check the spiders for rips and tears, push down the cone also to check for sound. Do a free air test, play it outside of the box, if it still makes that noise then its the woofer.
Spider looks good, no noises at all when pushing on the cone. I'll do the free-air test tomorrow since it's midnight and I don't wanna tick the neighbors off any more. :p

If you push down, no noise, check each part of the spider carefully with your fingers. If all is good then its with your amps, check your grounds.

maybe the sub is coming loose from the box. I had to tighten my screws today because they were coming loose and my subs were hitting against the box making a distortion sound.

Alright, I'll look into the faulty glue! And I retightened the screws just recently, so we'll see if that changes it. Also, it's not the amp. The amp works flawlessly on my 2 12" RF P3's.
