Kicker l5 10 box help

Is a 1.25 cu feet with poly fill going to cause me much problems with the sound of the sub in a sealed box??

Manufacture rec is 1 cu feet max for sealed but the box I bought was 1.25.

Also if I need to take the space down should I cut down on the poly fill and add a few pieces of MDF inside the box to cut down or does anyone have a different methode.

THe bass sounds a little distorted now so that is why Im looking for help!!

I would say the distortion is from gains beign set wrong/hu cranked way to high...that is if it is actually distortion.

take the polyfill out...with basket displacement the 1.25 cu. ft box should be perfect...the polyfill only fools the sub into thinking its a bigger box.....

Sub could be over-excursing, but that usually happens in extreme cases, most of the time its being over-powered.

i have a box built by ultimate audio here in town for 1 10" L7 or L5 that i'm selling for 40 bucks shipped...its got black carpet and after sub displacement you have 1 cube.....a good sq box...not any of that prefab CC or best Buy garbage...built by one of the best shops in FLA...

Will take the polyfill out tom and let everyone know if this helps of not. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Took the polyfill out and it sounds a lot better. Not perfect yet but thats because all of the control knobs on the JL 500/1 are confusing the hell outta me.
