I have the opportunity to get a kicker comp c15 locally for around $100-$120.

OR

A DC lv 2 15 for $135 shipped. (http://www.caraudio.com/forums/subwoofer-classifieds/505145-2-dc-lvl2-15s-$135-shipped-ea.html)

Obviously it'd be nice to have the sub quickly, and paypal can be a hassle, but DC is known for quality. The only thing is that it's a lv 2..Not sure if that lv is good or not.

The amp that'll be used is an MTX Thunder 600XD. Both subs are 4 ohms, so I'd be able to run them at the 600rms the amp puts out @ 2 ohms.

What do you guys think?

well, look at the specs for each, and fit that into what you are going to build for them. i like the comp cones, personally, over the dc, but if you blow either one, the dc is going to have more options for rebuilding, or parting out.

Okay so what If I threw in a 15'' Planet audio sub bb 15D into the mix for $180(also locally)

What do you guys think?

Here's what I'm seeing:

Kicker comp: not(officially) rated for a lot of power, deecent brand, quick to get, good sized woofer, low price.

Dc lv 2: easily take a lot of power, great brand, online, Pretty good sized sub, good price.

PA bb15d: easily take a lot of power, decent brand, massive sub, local, getting to be expensive (for me)

SO MANY VARIABLES.

is that 600xd what you are going to stick with? look more at the characteristics of each sub. if all you are ever going to power it with is that, then stick to something in that range. for instance, that planet audio, may be built well, and have more options/value if you cook it, but a lower powered sub can put out more in the given range. the newer kicker c-series comps really are lower power, but have really light and sensitive soft-parts. the dc's are pretty popular, and efficient, yet getting my hands on a new pair yesterday, they weren't quite what i expected. reminded me of a punch with more x-mech, and less weight to it. those db's look real nice. what is the pricing on them. i would go with a k3, or k5

Yeah I was planning on sticking with this one. I want loud but not looking to compete. Yeah an I went to the site;i like the k3 and k5. Where would get them? And yeah where did you see prices at?

So you're saying a sub that could handle bigger powers wouldnt sound as good as a sub which was meant to handle those kind of powers?

you need to go with DC....

1) if you blow one(which it kinda sounds like your going to..) they can be rebuilt..

2) they make a great product

3 dont buy a sub a JUST because you can get it quickly!! thats absurd... LOL

Well its not JUST that! Trust me, there are plenty of Boss and Pyle products on CL i could get quickly. But this happens to be Kicker which lot of people like, but i just havent had a lot of experience with.

And why do you think I'm gonna blow?
