Im looking to beef up the bass in the front of my ride, so Im putting in kick panels, I have 4" Bose speakers in the dash now (they sound like ****) so could I pull off a 4*6 or even a 6*9 speaker in the front, I like the way the Cerwin Vega 6*9 hit and Id like that sound in the front of the car!! Any ideas would help out a lot! Thanks

I would personally use a 6.5" component set in the kicks for better imaging and if needed, and additional 6.5" midbass in the doors. I would strongly reccomend not using the 6x9's or any other square speaker in front, they can easily cause noticable break-up and limited frequency response due to thier shape.

take it easy,

-zane

Zane is right on the money... I may be a junior member but I have been reading about car audio for 10 years.

I also have all of the Autosound 2000 Technical Briefs.

The only way to move bass to the front of the vehicle is by using 6 1/2 inch or 8 inch speakers. They should not be 2-way or 3-way speakers. You'll also have to put a decent amount of wattage through them.

Stay away from 6x9's.

A custom kick panel may have to be used...

Good luck,

Andy

possibly some 8inch drivers with somke nice ID horns??? that would be a great setup if installed right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Zane what do u charge to make someone a pair of kick panels (one for each side)? I want some for my car but mylocal place wants 400 for a set of custom panes and 6 1/2 inch ma audio and tweeters (x/o's sold seperatly). I would like this feature either by my feet or on tha dash.

P.S.I drive a 1988 Chevy Corsica

well to be honest i doubt zane will be able to do that for you....mainly cause he would have to be in your car to make them....but its worth a shot.....and while your at it zane how bout giving me one of your alumapros.....heh....good luck

Yep. That's exactly what I did. I tried it with my 1/4" flush trim bit, but it didn't leave enough space for the mesh to press the way I wanted...
