Keeping my stock headunit

Right now Im in the process of putting the system in my sig into my new. well new to me anyway, 1998 Olds 88. Im seriously considering the idea of just using my stock HU (tuner, tape, cd) for several different reasons we wont get into right now.

So does anyone do this? Ie can anyone fill me in on what type of line level converter you are using and how does it sound?

My main concern is that its gonna sound like crap.
