ok well heres the problem, I have a kicker 600.1 amp, first, I had a kicker 10" L7 in a sealed box. it has the proper airspace according to kickers standards. the sub was borken in on a ported kicker box at 33htz. It operated fine in that box. once in the sealed, after about a week of use, I started to get the annoying vibrating (something) in the sub..im guessing voice coils. when the subs being played, every hit it does a internal vibrating sound and is extreamly annoying. it still hits hard and low...but with the noise behind it. I later put in a kicker L5 10" in the same box, same amp. and once again, after about a week, I get the vibration again. am I blowing these subs with only 600 watts? my power is set to only about 3/4. wtf! anyone have any ideas? thanks

First off... if you put it in the right size enclosure there is no way in hell your l7 would screw up with 600 watts... either they are having serious issues cooling, or the box has a leak, or something else, but no, sorry to say it shouldnt be happening

EDIT: Power is set to 3/4?? What amp are you using.. my guess is you are clipping the HELL out of everything

x2....

You're probably clipping the hell out of your woofer coupled with loud volumes at a constant rate for long periods of time.

I had the same problem with my 10" L5. I had it on an Alpine 600rms mono, gains set accordingly.

I don't remember the box size, but it was ported for about 35hz. and it was within facotry ported 'spec'.

The coils read fine, it was loud, but it always had that sound.

A lot of people actually have this problem with these subs. Some say it was the cones coming apart and smacking each other.

Having your gain set 3/4 of the way is not 3/4 of the amps power. Gains are used to match the preout voltage of your hu. Learn what clipping is & how to properly set your gain, before you burn up your amp as well.

well, tonight I went and properly set up my gain. It is now set at 34.64v ac due to it being a 600w amp pushing 2ohm. and yet again, same problem. I don't understand whats going on here. I set all my eq down to zero, turned off loud and bass boost and sub sonic options. took readings right at the terminals. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif this is driving me crazy! any ideas? maby some other problem?

well if it was a coil, setting the gain correct now isnt gunna help your problem.

This is what happened to my last sub. But, I was sending way more power than I was supposed to to it. Turns out part of the plastic on the VC came loose and was scratching on the inside of the motor.
