Correct, but with dual square ports on the sides, I have the added room needed to accomodate them. With the single slot port, there was no room to have the slot above or below the 13" sub, and I didn't want just one slot to one side. Looks asymetrical. So We split it and went with two ports, one on either side, where volume was not an issue.Uhh... the more ports, the more space needed... so, either your box is tuned wrong or you were mis-informed.
Go with JL spec. The specs for their boxes maximize what their subs are intended to do. If you want to go lower, then a sub designed to be better at lower frequencies may be what you want.Alright guys, I'm trusting you on this, I'm gonna try to build a ported box to save money and try it out. Do you guys think I should build it to JL specs? or tune it a little lower..
I think the JL spec's are tuned at 34 hz.
i did sealed for about 4 years, now i am doing ported and man, what a difference it makes. IT POUNDS, and honestly i dont think it sounds any worse than before. the subs themselves react differently. almost as if they can breath now where before they were being strangled.
Up front I have a pair of JL VR 650-CSI's, and a pair of Boston acoustics s95 6x9's in the rear powered by an alpine MRP-F450, I'm more then happy with my speakers, and I don't think that's the issue, I just want more thump in my sub-stage...The problem might not be the sub...
what's up front?
