Just to clear things up a bit

I believe that some people are a little confused about this subject, so I thought I'd clear the ait a bit.
Seems like people believe that once upon a time Christians went around killing in the name of Christ.

This is a common misconception that is often used as a weapon to degrade Christians and Christianity, stating that Christians are just as sick as Muslim extremist terrorists who kill in the name of their god.

This logic is, however flawed, due to the fact that Christ did not condone murder, and the definition of a Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Christ and strives to mimic his life through theirs.

Therefore anyone who commits murder in the name of Christ is not a true Christian.

So if someone who called themselvf a vegetarian ate 3 steaks every day for his entire life would you still agree that he was a vegetarian?

Those people may have believed God wanted them to kill, but their acts were completely un-Christian like.

So to say they are Christians is a truly ignorant thing to say.

That is where Christian belief differs from Islamic and Judaic belief. We do not see Christ as God, he is a prophet, just like all the other prophets. Why Christians decided their prophet was somehow "The Son of God" and all the other prophets are trivial in comparison is beyond me. Perhaps the same way they decided they should kill, ****, or enslave anyone in their path who didn't believe the same thing or wasn't white...

That is no different than what is currently happening on the African continent. Just different times and places. And deciding that Jesus was the son of God was because that is what he taught? Why do you believe Muhammad was the penultimate prophet and above all others? It is because that's what his teachings said. It just depends on what religion you are a part of, they are all very similar.

BTW, the Jewish faith is different as they are still waiting for their Messiah, they believe the son of God will come, but that Jesus was not him.

If that's the line of logic you want to follow, then there are no Islamic terrorists, because anyone who is a terrorist is not a follower of "true" Islam.

Do I believe that the people carrying on the Crusades were good Christians? No. But they were still Christians who thought they were doing what's right. Just how the Islamic terrorists are still Muslims who think they're doing what's right.

Christians don't decide that a prophet was the son of God. They believe that the son of God was a prophet on earth. As for the last sentence, when were such acts ever the exclusive behaviour of Christian extremists?

Unless I'm badly mistaken Christ was crucified for heresy for claiming to be the King of the Jews. The ppl who killed him didn't call themselves Christians. Christianity didn't even exist at the time.

You are correct, Jesus was a Jew himself. But if you know anything about religion Jews still do not believe that the son of God has come, they sacrificed Jesus because HE THOUGHT that he wasn't the son of God. Christianity obviously came much later.
