Just some basic help needed

I'm new to this site and haven't been into car audio for over 5 years and just have a few basic questions. I can't stand my stock radio anymore so its time for an upgrade. I'm not up to date on all the brands now a days so if anyone would like to steer me in the right direction please do. I'm looking for sound quality only, something very small and clean. I dont need anything loud or alot of bass. First, I got an Eclipse CD3100 head unit.

Just a thought as of now- I have an extended cab truck and dont want to give up much space at all. With the measurements I got it will only allow me to do an 8in sub. I was thinking of a JL300/4 to power an 8in sub with 150 watts (rear ch) and a component set up front with 75X2 (front ch) The JL amp might be out of my price range unless I can find a nice used one. I have no clue on what front speakers I should get also? I had MB Quarts along time ago.

Also, what about an old Phoenix Gold Ti amp if I can find one?

I have limited space on the amp also as its going under my seat.

subs today take less airspace than they did 5 years ago.a friend of mine has a rockford fosgate p3 10 that the maximum airspace is .75 cubic ft. and the min. is .6! remember even if you don't want it loud the larger sub will go deeper than a small one

Yes that is true, I "might" be able to get a 10 back there. The box I want to build can only be 10.5 inches wide max. Its going to be right behind the center console and still allow use of both rear seats. I plan to have the sub fire down as that seemed to work good in a truck.
