Ok, so I'm looking to go with 1 12" sub instead of 2 12" Because my car is small and i like my trunk space.

Anyways. I had this crappy pair of Dual subs in a bandpass box (yeah yeah, bought it for $50, sold for $100) With a Soundstorm amp putting 200watts RMS @4ohms

I have $500 to rebuild. I want it to be louder for sure. But i also want better sound quality than those dual subs.

I was looking at:

12" Alpine Type R 4ohm DVC

Kicker 08zx500.1 Class D amp

And a Complete 4 gauge Kicker wiring kit.

All that is about $450 and my cousin will build me a box for $50.

My question is will 1 Alpine Type R 12" with 500watts RMS be louder than the 2 dual 12's at 200watts rms???

Thanks!!

it will defeinetly be louder. Dual Subs just plain ****. were the duals in that shitty prefab bandpass box?

Yeah they were in this box:

The Type R is about $145

The zx500.1 is $220

The wiring i picked out was kinda expensive at $79, but wanted good wire if i ever upgraded again. Is 4 gauge to big? should i go 8 or what?

And then a box at $50

Thats $494 (Thats with shipping included on everything)

I want a good quality amp to. And i really wanted a bass knob. Had one on my old amp and i used it all the time.

********EDIT********

Ok, so i got some cheaper wire. But not horrible.

Would the Kicker ZX750.1 be a lot better?? i can afford that

Ok, i found all the stuff i was looking at for $475.

The Alpine type R

Kicker ZX750.1

wire and box

So should i get the ZX750.1 and overpower it by 250watts RMS or just get the ZX500.1??

Why not pick up a cheap pair of components, a decent 4 channel amp and a 4 ohm svc or 2 ohm dvc sub.

I'm going to recommend the MB Quart DSC4125 for the 800th time this week. It'll give you 125 rms x2 & 500 rms x1 @ 4 ohms. It'll provide enough power for a very nice little setup, and it'll only set you back $137.

Here's the amp: http://www.vminnovations.com/product_1231/MB_QUART_DSC4125_1000W_4_Channel_Amplifier.html

Also, check out this 4 awg wiring kit from KnuKonceptz: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX-AK4

Well i have 2 pairs of Hifonics ZXi 5.2C. They are the 5.25 components, They are the very first thing i ever bought audio wise for my car. And surprisingly they get loud and sound pretty good on head unit power. And they were cheap when i bought them. Ide like to amp them someday. But i want to get my bump back, its painful to ride in MY car without subs ive had for sooooo long.

Ive been looking at the MB Quart amps. My friend bought a little 300watt one and it work REALLY good. But i read about them. Apparently there would be warrenty issues because they aren't manufactured anymore??
