just ordered my new setup, need help

this is my first time ever doing this. heres what i got:

sundown sa-12(just one)

re audio dts-1000.1

for speakers i got a pair of rockford r1652-s 6 1/2's

the headunit is a pioneer deh-1300. its really old but itll have to do for now..

i have a couple questions. after the sub is all broken in, would the sub be okay if i ran all 800 watts through it daily? i drive an 03 chevy s10 extended cab. should i go out and buy a prefab box or should i make my own? im kinda stuck on the box idea. and lastly should i get an extra battery or a cap or something? i dont want to fry my alternator.

Those subs shouldn't need much of a break in. Do not buy a prefab box you will regret it heavily. Caps are useless as well. Do the big 3, you should be fine if you're only running ~800w. Have ram_designs or someone who knows what they are doing design you a box.

You aren't running that much wattage so your stock alternator and battery should be fine. Just do the Big 3 as said above and you will be fine.

You should try and build your own box. This way here, you can learn and tweak your sound as you go. I had a 94 S-10 regular cab so I know there isn't much there.

not true ,i have a 95 s10 and the stock alt and battery were not worth a ****.do the big 3 ,better battery.it will help.i blew my stock alt with only 700 watts

well it took a few years but it did do its toll on the alt. you could really see the lights dimming bad

It might be important to point out, I had the CPI H.O. V-6 found in the S.S. S-10. Kinda forgot about that. Its been a few years since I had that truck. I miss it

You should be fine on stock electric, but apparently some others have had problems. I'd say a Big 3 upgrade though for sure.

And caps are useless, don't bother with that.

Yes, it can take 800 watts all day, no problems. I have ~1300w going to my SA-10 and have no problem.

If you wanna run sealed (not optimal for Sundowns), prefab is fine. If you wanna go ported (optimal for Sundowns), you'll need an enclosure designed and built specifically for your application.
