Hi I'm new to the forum.

My system:

1995 Ford Taurus

alpine CDA-9885

MB Quart 6.5 Ref. comp. front

MB Quart 6x8 Ref. comp. rear

Phoenix Gold Rsd 500.4

Phoenix Gold Rsd 1200.1

2 - Polk DB 12 subs ported

I am looking for one higher quality 12" sub woofer to replace the Polks. Sound Quality is my main concern. I want a smaller sealed enclosure because I would rather have tight punchy bass than being too boomy. The sub will be recieving approx. 1000-1200 watt rms in 2 ohms. I've done a little research and have come up with a few choices (although I have never heard any of them).

I really like the phoenix gold but was concerned about it's frequency range (20-80 Hz.) seems a little tight for me since I like to listen to rock and like to set my sub x-over point a little higher. Thank you for any suggestions.

People here pretty much hate the w7 and have a huge boner over FI. I've only heard the w7 and pg out of the four your asking about but most people here are going to tell you to go with the FI q or the Idmax.

I have a box for that sub also, if you want it, I will sell it for $60 ($30 for parts + $30 for shipping). It was designed by IonSQL, and it is about 2.1 CUF^ @ 31HZ. Exterior measurements are : 34.5"W; 14.5"D; 15.5"H

What about the frequency range on it though? I currently have my sub amp set at 200 Hz. and it blends nicely with the front soundstage. If the elite is only rated at 20-80 Hz. will it be able to produce the higher freqencies? I do have to do some more tweaking with my mid range though. It is not as strong as I would like it to be. (I'm thinking about getting an alpine sound processor).

Proper settings on the amp, should be suitable for you. I can't say yes or no to that question, as everyone listens to their music differently. What sounds good to you, may sound like *** to me, or vice versa.

I haven't seen or read too many complaints about the Ti12D Elite, regardless if you put it in a sealed or ported box. One of the best SQL subs out there.

I haven't heard anything bad about the elites either. But I don't really see much talk about them even in older posts from a few years ago.

I have two of them actually. I am currently using one for daily. I thought about trying to compete, so I originally bought two, but I am not interested in running more than 1Kw's.

How about a TC Sounds TC9 based sub, I have one for sale for 140 shipped. Handles 1000-1200 rms. I only used for about 6 months and only pushed 600 to it.

Part of that problem, was that they were extremely rare to find. They didn't make a lot of them, but those who did get them, were normally very happy with the output from them.
