i'd say just find some pioneer 3-ways online somewhere at a decent price since your not going to amp them no point in trying to going too wild, plus $100 is pretty tight! try etronics or sonicelectronix or http://www.pricegrabber.com

Could you make 6.5"s work? Heres a nice set of comps that fall into your budget:

Also, the tweeters can be mounted on the mid, so that should simplify your install a bit.

if his 4x6 fronts mount anything like blazers or montes from that time (late 80"s) then it'll be pretty difficult to use 6.5"s
