no subwoofer is worth $1600. I have the new XXX. It is badass, I like it a lot. I was willing to pay $630 for it. That is a fair price for this woofer. $850 (dealer pricing) is overpriced for the XXX, because lets face it, although it is sick, for $850 you could get two $400 woofers that would kick its ***.
$1600? That is retarded. If it really is that price, then RE can go fcuk themselves.

I actually heard one a couple days ago!!!

And no it is not worth $1600, but if dealers are still selling it much cheaper than that then it could be a good buy. But if the price really is $1600 like I read on another part of this forum, then I believe it is too high for what the sub is actually worth.

they DO NOT SELL MANUFACTURER DIRECT ANYMORE! you have to go thru a dealer, and the prices floating around are msrp. they will not actually be that high, as a matter of fact, they may not change at all. but you have to go thru a dealer!

p.s.: ive got two slightly used sx 15s for sale. ill take 11,000 for the pair.

I have heard MANY RE subs, and I would put my mag up against them anyday as well. And now that a mag 12 is $100 cheaper than an SX 12 I think the mag is a much better deal.

But I have always liked RE as well, I just thought they had very fair prices before and am not happy to see the change:crap:

I was quoted $1075 for an MT 18 yesterday. I hope RE has success in their future business, but I firmly believe they have committed business *******. I really feel like every DIYer on all of the forums should boycott their products until they come back to reality on their pricing. Best of luck RE, it was truly terrific while it lasted.

They established a good reputation with their products on their previous lines and now are trying to spread to more dealers. If you can buy direct for a much cheaper price then dealer, not many dealers would want to pick them up. So the new xxx is not 1600, thats just the MSRP or the direct price, so that nobody will buy direct. Try to find a dealer near you, and then check out the prices their, I'm sure it will vary from place to place but it will be much cheaper then 1600.

I can understand that... but don't you think its a little bit early for them to rely on dealers? The main percentage of their customers are from these forums looking to get the most bang for the buck. Now they wanna be the next JL when they don't even have a complete website.

Seems to me like the RE boner will suffer premature ejaculation.
