Just got off the phone with RE..HOLY CRAP

I can understand that... but don't you think its a little bit early for them to rely on dealers? The main percentage of their customers are from these forums looking to get the most bang for the buck. Now they wanna be the next JL when they don't even have a complete website.
Seems to me like the RE boner will suffer premature ejaculation.
It might be a bit early, but you have to remember their products are of very high quality, and also look very nice. If more dealers start to pick them up and kids walk in and see these huge subs or get to listen to them, then they will probably be very impressed, and although the prices are high, there are lots of ppl out there that will be willing to put the money down.

Everyone around here who has heard my 15 xxx (04 model) was very impressed and wouldn't hesitate buying RE if there was a dealer around here that carried them. RE is taking a risk but if they have money now to make such a move, its probably good for the company. Let's just wait a couple of months and see if more dealers pop up and the prices (dealer prices, direct is obviously no longer an option) lower to something reasonable.

They might make great products, but the quality isn't worth the price. Just look at the SX, lets say someone goes to a dealer and gets a "deal" on one for $350. The sub is comparable (no better or worse) to an Alpine Type R, which already has an established name and costs much less. How about the MX? You can get a W7 realistically for around the cost of an MX. It doesn't make much sense to me. Some kid will walk into a shop and a salesman will say "I have the end all be all of subwoofers for you here, the RE XXX... $1200" and he'll say "WHO!?".

I think they need some serious exposure first before completely depending on dealers, even if they use the US Amps name.

^ True but I'm hoping prices arent that high. If they are, then I think it's a bad move. If he says, "I have the end all be all of subwoofers, the RE XXX...850," the kid might say "who?" But maybe he will get to listen to it and it will blow him away. I've never heard the sub so I can't say whether it is worth $850, to some it may be, to others it might not be. But I do agree that if the dealers are going to sell it at 1200, then not many ppl will be picking it up.

You're overestimating the average customer. I've worked in car audio for over 2 years now, and I've had people drop $300 on an Audiobahn sub.

Good friend of mine owned a shop in which I worked in and spent almost all of my time in, he was able to sell $500 DLS components to people that have never heard of the company, and never even heard the speaker until it was put in their car.

You know how much he sold a MMATS Juggernaut for? Over $700 for the 12". And he sold a lot of them.

Yea, maybe I'm looking at it from the perspective of someone who isn't clueless. Screws us over though lol. I blame flakko. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I doubt all/most of their business comes from the forums. No doubt a good amount will, but I see the dealers actually selling more than people buy online in the long run.

I understand the baisc process of selling and distributing a product. But to set an MSRP so high is just unreal. Rarely have I seen a dealer come down much if any at all from the MSRP. This could be a side effect from internet sales driving the price down and the stores trying to pay the rent, or some lame excuse. I ran a car audio shop for 2 years, and personally I would find it hard to pick up RE. With out at least a small public following outside the DIY internet crowd it will be a very hard sell with the high prices. Makes me kick myself for not ordering 8 RE8s instead of 4.

I just got off the phone with them too....
$1,025 for one 18" MT!!!

$925 for the 15"!!
So what? Check with closest dealer to you and see what they can get it to you for. All this really means is that customers should support the dealers directly now. Some of you are hyperventilating for nothing.

im sorry, THIS,

remt18side.jpg

is not worth $1,025. But to people with more cash then sense, it will seem like the holy grail of subwoofers, and for the salespeople at those shops....gravy.

...and thats MY 18" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

for weekend warrior competitors like myself, there are still plenty of SPL subs available for under $450 that will keep up if not excede RE subs. So I dont see why there is a big fuss, its not like everyone in this thread owns RE products or anything.

No...but I wanted to own some RE products:crap:

YOU PEOPLE! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!

call RE ask for a dealer near you... if you dont have a dealer near you, im sure that one of them can ship stuff to you... if you havent already read, that stuff is MSRP! meaning dealers can get you the products for CHEAPER!
