alright, so im on a mini truck forum and this guy asks about quantum audio. he said his current setup is way to much. I toldhim instead of throwin cash around just turn his gains down, and that should do the trick as far as lowering the bass volume. yes your right the gain knob is NOT a volume control, but it controls that amount of current or whatever the amp gets, in direct line of how much wattage the amp spits out.
then another guy chimed in
i explained this to the guy and i got a response like this:
"U can't turn down the watts by turning down the gain it don't work like that ur gain control is not a volume control!!! It adjust the amount of frequencies u send to the speakers no matter how low or how high u turn it u get same amount of watts and it is better to over power ur subs a little then is to under power them alot. O and u can **** up ur subs by under powering them "
PLEASE correct this statement so i can show the guy that he knows nothing and shouldnt be posting info. (wrong info)
so while i was overwhelmed and almost died of stupidity after reading his post i replied saying that a CROSSOVER LIMITS FREQUENCIES NOT THE GAIN.
to which he replied
"NO i'm completely right!!!!!!! I've been installing car audio 4 about 13 years now and the only way to turn the amps wattage up and down is to change the ohms of the speakers u r hooking up and that is the only way!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
to which i replied with :
the ohm load has NOTHING TO DO WITH WATTAGE OTHER THAN IT CAN PULL MORE OUT OF THE AMP! im not even going to try anymore, i will post your message on my car audio forum i frequent and let them rip ur responses to pieces. and post u the link.
PLEASE correct everything he has said so i can post the link to him and he can learn something.
