Just got my amp, now a couple amp kit quesetions

to answer your question the fuse has to match the wire its being put on. The purpose of a fuse is to save your wire from burning up, the fuse always has to have a smaller amp rating than the wire its on so that it burns before the wire is.

8 AWG wire is rated for 73A so basicly your fuse has to be smaller then 73A so it will burn out before the wire does, ex: 65A would work... 60A would be perfect. You could use like a 50A but you don't want to go too low or it might blow from regular daily use.

I was talking about the Kicker PKD1, the one I referenced, it is overkill for your system but if you plan to upgrade you will be happy you used it.

to the OP, just don't go to BB or CC and buy some 100 dollar kit that you could have got cheaper.

yeah that was part of teh reason for this thread. i'd like to spend $40 or less. plan is to see if any stores sell it in that price range otherwise ill go online...i just dont want to wait 5-10 days to get it.

one more quick question. i am seeing amp kits that are 2-channel and 4-channel kits. what is the difference, and what do i need? i am running this to a mono amplifer running one subwoofer.

turns out shipping is only 7.99 bringing the total to $50. little higher than i wanted but maybe i'll go for it. i'm still contemplating the 8 gauge but i know everyone wnats me to do 4awg
