Just bought some JL subs, couldn't find what model they are.

Thevic is correct. It's a w4. The small dust cap and magnet(u whipper snappers n

ow call motors) gives it away. The w6s had bigger dust cap and larger magnets. I had 12w4s from 1994-1998. Best sounding subs ever. I had w6s and the w6v2s and neither sound as good. Just handle more power.

i didn't read anywhere where you told us what year, make and model of vehicle you have. are you CERTAIN you can fit a 32w x 35d x 17h box in the trunk and take it in and out without a problem? sounds awfully large to be removable in a trunk application (guessing that it's a trunk versus hatch or SUV). either way, that's 9 cubes of gross internal volume. pretty much big enough to do ANY alignment necessary to get whatever target response you are after. "going sealed" would be like strapping skis on lance armstrong before the tour de france, tons of potential strapped to a set of massive brakes.

I have an 03 Volkswagen jetta, and yes I'm sure I made measurements. I already asked buck for a design I now have acess for a paypal. I just await his finished design, hopefully today since I'm not working.

I realize this is an old thread & I did not read every post on the 5 pages, BUT....

I have (had) the same situation. I took a bunch of advice you guys posted & looked at the subs I have. I ended up finding numbers printed under the cone & numbers on a white sticker. I called JL's tech center & gave them the numbers. The ones on the bottom of the cone they are guessing are the Cone part numbers. when i gave them the numbers on the white stickers (which was different one the 2 subs) they came up as 12W4-4's.

So call up JL & give them the numbers on the white sticker.

There website also has a page that links to spec sheets for discontinued products too.

I'll be sure to keep that in mind for future reference, these subs are long gone hahah.

Good to know I wasn't the only one.
