Is it possible to add an aftermarket amp and sub to an electric car? They don't have an alternator. Has anybody tried? I'm not new to car audio install, but i am when it comes to electric car.

its a 2016 vw e-golf. I just need 500watt and 10" at least. this stock system is killin me

Correct me if im wrong. but because the car is battery powered and only charges when its plugged in you would lose alot of miles on your vehicle inbetween charges. If your set on doing so id be extremely modest with power draw depending on battery size... If you never drive further than work you can get a little bigger amp.

So why not help him instead of bash him for buying it? He didn't come here for your approval.

A few tips: Stay away from the thick orange wires, and use lineman gloves when working on the car. The car should have a separate 12v system independent of the drive train. You will be good to go as normal.

there is a 12v battery under the hood, I'm looking to use a small amp around 500 rms . I wonder if tesla owners had even put subs in their cars? I'm not looking to do a high power system.

Put a acouple batts in the car just for the audio side. And they will be fine. Just charge them up every night. It would be just like running a system in a Boat when it's not running... Just make sure you charge them every night.

The car has a 12v battery and is recharged. Do you really think everything else in the car is ran off high voltage? I have seen several full builds in Tesla's now with nothing done out of ordinary as far as electrical.

who's bashing him, boomin? I'm stating its a bad idea, because it is lol

Teslas main bat pack is something like 400 vdc. I doubt the main pack in your car is much lower. Like mentioned above you would need to add a couple batteries
