Just bought a 15" type R and....

Type R is great bang for your buck. I would get a quality amp for that if your going for more sq than spl. I love type R, but if your going for real sq, I agree with the above post, and would go with FIQ, Alpine type X, or a IDQ instead. I have my type R ported and it sounds great and loud. A good quality amp will make a difference on your type r if your going for sealed.

hahha. tcab's are not impressive one little bit to me.

your gonna need to port it with more power. 3.5 cubes @ 34hz with atleast 2000 watts rms.
I wouldnt recommend this daily, I just blew my 15 Inch Type R, off like 1500 watts rms, I had it running off my kx2500.1 @ 4 ohms, I liked the sub though it had some real good low-end, but Im going to get some 15's that can handle the power better.

I am just wondering how it will sound with a Directed 1200d if anyone has tried it? I am thinking about doing a sealed box however I need to know the right amount of space to give it? What have most of you been successful with?
I have mine in a 2.5 cubic foot sealed enclosure and it sounds great. I have a phoenix gold 1500.1 amp powering it and it is incredible, I love it. I would recommend a sealed box over an incorrect ported box with incorrect tuning.
