Amp: Sundown SAe 300.4 or w/e that model is.

Everything was working fine last night, today I start my truck and my door speakers are not working. I check out the fuse on my door speaker amp and they are blown. Is this just something that happens sometimes out of no where. Or does this mean I have a bad wire?

Only reason i ask is my wires run through holes in the wood to make sure the dont move much at all so I just fine it hard to believe its my wires!

The fuses on the amp.

So I put in brand new 30 amp fuses, powered the wire back up and the amp started smoking. Before I put the amp back on it though, I tested the wires both the ground and the positive. I then put the positive back into the amp and thats when I tested it out.

I dont know what is going on because the wires are not touching and the fuses on the main power wire are fine.

assuming that the amps fuse size is 30amp fuses, and that you didnt change anything between the first blown fuses and the second set of fuses, i am going to guess that something is wrong with the amp if the fuses did not blow the second time

did you unhook the speaker wires before hooking the amp back up? it doesn't sound like it. might be a piece of metal that got into the amp and caused damage as well.

Well the 2nd set of fuses didnt blow so I also think the speakers did it. Ill search everything tomorrow and let yall know what I find! thanks for the quick input though!

No I didnt unhook the speaker wires before hooking it back up.

I tested the wires while on the amp, then off the amp, then back on. I know that it was redundant but I wanted to make sure the reading was consistant!

It really sucks having to take apart every door to get to my speakers though haha!

So i checked today for wire shorts, and didnt find anything. So I put in the brand new 30 amp fuses, and put the power back to it and the amp isnt powering up today. No protection light nothing. Somehow the other amps are turnign on fine and working perfectly. They all share the same distro blocks for power and ground and remote turn on!

Why is it not powering up still? Do yall think its time to start talking with sundown about replacement?

If your amp started smoking thats a clue there is a major problem with it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Thanks man, now I know why I was on here asking for others thoughts. Surprisingly I didnt think anything was wrong but hey problem fixed huh.

Anyways there is a sundown reseller near me, ill just run it down to them as soon as I can see what they think!
