So, last night I took a buddy to look at a Blazer he was wanting to buy. On our way to go look at the Blazer, my car ('03 Kia Optima) started idling funny. Stopped in a gas station, and it kept doing it. Drove fine, but idled weird. Didn't think much of it. Got to the guys house that had the Blazer, spent about 40 minutes bullshittin' with the guy, and test driving it. All was good, buddy decided to buy it. Got to signing over the paper work, and his next door neighbor starts to leave, starts backing straight up. My car was parked on the side of the road, due to no drive at the guy's house. I noticed the neighbor wasn't turning, just going straight back. Start yelling at him to stop, but his windows are up. Smacked my car on the rear quarter, and basically collapsed my door. Exchange insurance, file police report, take pictures, ect. ect. Go to leave and my car started idling funny again... Didn't want to look at it, it was like 11p.m., and I had no light.
My girl took the car to work today, and said it was driving like ****. I take it to the gas station, and yeah, it drove like ****. Waited 'til she got home to look at the car in depth. Popped the hood, everything (looked) fine, so I decided to use some SeaFoam on it, in case it was just a clogged injector. Take off the plug valley cover, and see my coil packs fouling and arching to valve cover gasket (****!). Shut the car off, check the wires and coils, wow! Wires are nice a toasty, and coils are hot as **** after just 2-3 minutes of running. Go to Oreilly's auto store, buy the new coils, and wires. Replace all that crap, now my car runs like a ******* dream! Although while doing that, I found out my valve cover gasket is completely wasted. I knew it was going out, but didn't think it was that bad. All is good now, ordered all my parts, and will get the **** thing fixed within the week.
Cliffs : Car idling funny, guy hit the car, found the reason why the car idled funny, fixed it. Now I'm here...
Hopefully dude's insurance info is good. My insurance company is contacting them, and having an agent come talk to me and look over the damages on Monday. Good things is, the damage will require repainting the rear quarter, and my clear coat was peeling bad there, so I'll get that fixed too.
