So right now my electrical system is horrible! I am about to get a new alt. (stock alt on a '73 duster is shit). My mechanic told me to make alot of grounds, he said that a cheap pair of jumper cables will work if I just cut and put termials on them. Im not sure hes that good with electrical stuff.

But will jumper cables work? I deff. will upgrade to 1guage wire later, but right now my car is sitting dead.

Mechanic told me to make alot more grounds and that jumper cables will work. Sounds really dumb but idk

My car ****ing died at jack in the box drive through outta no where. Didnt even have system on.

Get your car running right before you worry about some music in it. If not, you're gonna have a bad time.
why //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif he can always sit in the driveway and listen to tunes if the car isn't running if he has a good system in it....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Yeah thats why im about to make alot of grounds. Driving with my headlights just kills me and thats w/o my system even on. I havent been able to listen to it in awhile because every time I hit the brakes my system dies.

And most jumper cables have excessively large jacketing on them, something you dont want. You said you didnt know if your mechanic was good with electrical stuff... well now you know. He isn't.
the only downside i see to a thick insulation is having a tougher time with terminations/crimping/splicing... and possibly ease of concealing under carpet or through gaskets... a benefit of thick insulation would be it's ability to withstand heat and other elements better... perfect for under the hood wiring...

get some welding cable... or pay for inflated "car audio" wire with fancy colored jackets...
