Joseph's SQ Build Log

Thanks for all the kind words guys!! I can still walk very short distances and I use a cane most of the time, but I used to not be able to walk at all (until a very expensive and experimental surgery) and I am still fighting a very serious disease, but it doesn't stop me. I really wish I had a table saw though. The top turned out "out of square" but usable, so I had to stick with it in order to have some wood left over (ha ha) to build my amp racks. I still honestly don't know how it got out of square so bad. All the other cuts were just fine. After I get some fresh eyes in the morning, I plan on squaring everything up so it looks seamless and get to building the amp rack.

I am still open for suggestions for a color scheme or design to use. Hit me up with an example if you got one, and I might be able to do it! I plan on taking a whole bunch more pics guys, no matter how bad my work is, cause not everything turns out like it's supposed to, but a little extra work, and things tend to get squared up!

I think it should be wrapped in a real dark carbon fiber (or look a like) material, maybe with a Cadence logo somewhere.
Carbon Fiber look it is!! That's what I needed, some help, thanks Bro! I never thought of that, and I like it, it will match the interior, and I think I saw some at Jo-Ann Fabrics when I was looking at carpet.

How does everyone make templates for odd shaped things. Under my rear seat is getting the amp rack but I need a template. Card Board? Poster Board?

Some 1/8"ish corrugated cardboard---- like from a fairly study cardboard box---- would prolly work well. I'm thinking posterboard might be a bit thin, unless you're really having to put it thru major contortions

You have more ambition than I do that's for sure lol

Got a question Fella's! I am preparing to cut the false floor and amp racks and I need some pro help. When I mount the amp and run the wire up through the wood it's mounted on, do I cut the hole first, and then cover? Or do I cover the wood, and then drill through the covering and the wood it's mounted to? Pic v

(This is the old amp rack and not the real one, just using it for a picture reference)

I am trying to make it look as clean as possible, so maybe a pro like @pro\-rabbit can chime in too. The covering is not carpet, it's more like a black denim.

I am still trying to find something that resembles Carbon Fiber, but no luck so far @kushy_dreams so I may have to pass on that idea. I really really liked that idea too

Drill the wholesaler first then wrap it. Use a Sharp blade and a small x cut over the hole. Pull the wire through and then push it back to het the carpet to look right in the hole.

As far as templates go, I like to use poster board or mat board(used for artwork and is thicker than poster board.) My mom is an art teacher so I always had easy access to mat board so thats mostly what I used. I have also used that brown heavy paper for packing. That stuff works real great when you need bends and curves for sheetmetal.

Drill the wholesaler eh?
