Job interview at best buy tomorrow!

You're sounding a little cocky considering you have no experience installing. Taking apart dashes and having a vast knowledge of multiple cars is pretty important. Someone who is guessing on whether or not a panel snaps off is a liability.
I don't think you'll have an issue learning, but you're not going to be welcome if they get the same vibes from you.

You have to start somewhere.

i plan to have a "cocky" attitude about my knowledge in car audio. but im not going to come off *** a know-it-all *******, i will TRY to emphasize that i know my car audio down to the "nitty gritty" and i will be honest about me not having hands-on on domestic vehicles and i will admit to them that i've never done fiberglassing or laid vinyl (if they ask) but i will emphasize i am a fast learner and already KNOW HOW to fiberglass and such, i just need to have the hands-on!!!

You don't wanna go in their acting like you have no confidence in yourself, but I do agree that if you start acting cocky...they'll tell you to hit the road //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. People that can't listen cost them a lot of $ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Dammn you Mike you beat me. Oh and just a question what kind of install acc. do you use at your shop Metra or Best kits? and what Wire do yall use Tsunami, Stinger, Street wires..etc
we use metra. best kits are meh. we just started selling Tsunami wire kits and acc. ., most of the custom wire is from stinger off the spool. like speed wire etc. (i love speed wire)

We Also use metra I prefer them over Best Kits...And sell tsunami. But our spool wire is tsunami to. but for certain jobs we get Stinger (if a customer requests) from Amp of America.

never sound cocky u putz.....I will never hire(my own company) a know it all

The right way to act is

Your a team player

You are eager to learn more because there is still plenty for you to learn

Your enthusiatic and ambitious

Your neat and on time

You dont do dope(even if u do lie)

and your pleasent to be around

you take pride in your work

Ill hire this person even if he has little experience

because I can mold him into a good worker

You don't have to worry about it too much. When I hire installers I generally look at their own car to see what they've done. The easiest thing is to win over the manager with your knowledge of your own car. They have techsoft which will help you with whatever you need so don't worry about that.

i work at a best buy in illinois in the mobile department. As far as your fear of taking dashes/doors apart we do have an online reference guide but you shouldnt rely on it, just use it more as a guide. You Definately need to know how to do decks, speakers, amps/subs, and another biggie in best buy is Sat. Radio installs (hardwires, etc.). As far as alarms/remote starts, its going to depend on how many other installers may know how to do them or not. Also, you should get MECP certified because you will get more $$$ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Any other questions, pm me.

Yeah at BB..your going to need to know Deck installs, and Alarms. You do know how to wire up a remote start and Security system right?
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif i don't. never done remote start and never hooked up an alarm. i heard remote start is all relays and i know what relays are and i know electrical science pretty **** good. i took ASE A6 Electrical. i would love to know how to do both of those though. is that a REQUIREMENT or just knowledge theyd PREFER? if its a requirement, i'd better get started learning:crazy:

alarms are alot easier most of the time than a R/S on a newer vehicle because of all of the chipped keys and factory alarms that need to be bypassed. You dont HAVE to know alarms/remote starts, but a manager may not want you if he/she needs an installer to do so. With your MECP training, you'll learn.

LOL i had a 89 jeep cherokee with nothing in it, when i was hired.

i had skills working inside of cars, taking them apart.

i had a lot of my own TOOLS.

i have a good work ethic

i am certified. in different fields.

Thats what got me the job. not my car.

Well don't quote me on that. I was hired with nothing in my car either. Your general interest in the field is what will get you hired. My car has more performance enhancements than car audio anyway.
