Some say its a little "boomy" but its all in the enclosure. Honestly, I would go with the W6 over the 7 for SQ purposes...

I have a 10w7 ported enclosure powered by 500/1. its GREAT SQ with a little potential to get loud. It really has pronounced "kick drums" on rock songs. I heard both a W6 and W7, the W7's capabilities are far greater than the W6's.

from what I've heard W7 has much more output, but it has an exagerated low that some people don't like. I'm sure this can be fixed with a little eq'ing and box tuning. Another sub to consider would be a TC-3000 http://www.tcsounds.com they are cheaper and from what I've heard have really awesome sq and output as well...

I have a 13dub7 ported tuned to 32. Sounds great on rap with great low end. But at the same time still has decent punch up top on the drums for rock.

My friend has a 10w7 ported and it sounds great too.

First of all, if SQ is your goal, porting the W7 is retarded. That's an awful, awful enclosure type for that driver for SQ purposes. They are far more at home in moderate sized sealed boxes.

The W7s are capable of great SQ, but the W6v2 is capable of sounding better, due to similar motor design coupled with a lower inductance, thanks to a significantly smaller coil. They don't get as loud or handle as much power, but for sheer SQ purposes, I would consider them to be a better choice than the W7.

I dunno, all of the ported w7s I have heard have sounded very clean, even on rock. So its not like its going to sound like poo in a ported box. Although i do agree that the dub7s and w6s would do great in sealed.

From what I've heard, the W7 is a little tricky to get the right enclosure for. The W6 is supposed to be much easier to work with and many people prefer its sound over that of the W7. I've heard a lot of people commenting on the "Hollow" sound of the W7.

I don't understand what people mean by the "hollow" sound. I would describe the bass as heavy and beefy lol. i hope that makes sense.
