I just stole my brothers system cause he moved to denver...its 2 1000v2 amps and a pair of 12" W7's. The only problem is the sub centers dont move up or down for shit like regular subs do. My question is, are they blown or wtf is wrong with them? Are W7's supposed to move in the center? I dont want to hook them up yet cause i might fry the amps? Any advice?

is that how w7's are supposed to be? sturdy as ****?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
Like i said before... Test the coils w/ a DMM and see what they read.

Some cones are very very stiff, IDK if W7s are or not... Have these been used in the past??

he says that he has but idk...i guess ill have to hook em up and find out. I had some w0's previously and they werent sturdy at all...but they were also like 40 pounds lighter! lol

my prognosis:

You are a dumbass and the subs work fine. (assuming you don't wire them to your car battery when you attempt to install them.)

Prove me wrong

Your 1000/1v2's have protection circuitry designed to keep the amp from frying in the event of a short circuit. Hook them up with the gains really low and turn them up until you hear a problem, (The comments you've made compel me to remind you to only turn them up enough to determine if there is indeed a problem with them, you should subsequently set your gains correctly.) Luckily, JL audio has taken the guess work out of it for you! On their website, they have a table for you to set those gains by a DMM. if you don't have one, get one. If you are diking around with 3000 bucks worth of audio equipment, you can certainly afford to spent 10 bucks on a DMM and learn how to adjust your gains.

i figured out whats wrong with them as soon as i got sober...the cones locked up cause the coils are fried...im gonna go to jl and see if they're still under warranty..if not, i didnt really lose much considering i got them for free...i still have the amps so im gonna buy some type x 12"s
