FI makes a recone for the W7 motor, with the 12" spoke basket conversion you have to do yourself which isnt really hard to do.

F*** Jl i needed a new surround for my 10w6 they said they cant just replace it or send out a replacement i would have to pay $150 for a complete recone to basically replace a surround

jl audio blows. and when it does blow...which is pretty much always you're better off buying new, non-jl products...try your luck with a dc next time you get twice the product for half the cost. good luck

if you stay here long, you will learn there are things much better than kicker, jl, rockford.... I used to be on kicker's nuts, ive since seen the light. Fi, DD, DC, Sundown are all great products

So you're buying JL why?...

But in all seriousness I used to run all JL for maybe a year. But once I made the switch to IA I never looked back. One of my DP21"s walked all over my 4 13w7's on less power, and still sounded great. JL makes a decent product dont get me wrong. But I thing a W7 fits into the category of maybe a $350-$400 speaker, not $1100 like retail suggests.

Since all any of you seem to care about is getting loud, then, yes there are definitely better subs out there than JL. That said if you are blowing JL subs, you're doing something wrong. They're not that fragile. If you knew how to tune a system and didn't try to run x2+ the rated power to it in a mistuned box they'll last a long time. I actually have a perfectly functional 10w1 that is coming up on its 20th birthday.

It never ceases to amaze me how people will ***** about JL costing too much. Let's see...custom tooling on everything on their higher end subs and a lot of custom stuff on the the rest of it. Most of it made in the US. Made for minimum distortion, not maximum output. On top of that you ***** about them "penalizing" you for abusing their products. You get all butt hurt like they're intentionally trying to hose over the consumer by protecting their retailers' and their bottom line. Apparently well earned success and innovation (you know the things that actually drive capitalism) are bad things for you people. I guess the engineers at JL should work for free or just rely on overseas off the shelf parts to keep you people happy since you all seem to know more about how subs should all use cross compatible parts to keep happy those of you that refuse to use their products in the first place. Whatever. I hope that Fi never hits it big...whose nuts would you guys hug all over then?

People here like complaining about JL's costs, which is due in no small part to their custom, American made, designs.

People here like complaining about the small 'internet companies' using off the shelf parts like the relatively common 12-spoke basket.
