ok i got 2 jl 10 w6s there the old kind not the new ones that have a w6 at the bottum the kind that jus say jl but i wus wondering how the new ones were n wut kinda amp do i need to power'em so i can get some serious spl u know ne help?..............o and ne body know were i can get them the cheapest?

W6's really aren't designed to give you "some serious spl u know". They are designed to work well in small sealed enclosures. Small sealed enclosures are seldom seen in the spl lanes. As for "wut kinda amp you need to power'em", 350 -500 watts each will work well. "O" JL works to keep their product off of the internet, so your local dealer may be your best option to "get them the cheapest".

Ebay is the cheapest online. They are around 400rms. Sealed .65 and ported .75 cubic feet.

They are more dedicated to SQ than SPL. So if you want a louder speaker look into the Alpine Type-r, Fosgate T1, JL W7 and W3v2...

I would say that in the same application running 400 rms the w3v2 will not even be close to being louder than a w6v2

Guess I was wrong about them being harder to find online than other brands. oh well, sorry bout that. that guy from JL that posts on cs must have been blowin smoke. ha

For SQ or SQL i would say the W6v2 is one of the best speakers out there. i personally think it is the best sub JL has to offer and it sounds amazing. for SQ i would take the W6v2 over a W7 or W3v2 all day long.

That is wierd I can name off like 5 decent online dealers that you will get the subs cheaper than going to your local JL audio dealer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

And I agree, he is asking about "some serious spl u know". So I gave him the W7 it can get much louder. The W3v2 it is cheaper and can get near as loud as the W6v2.

And before people spout off, I own a 10w6v2:p:

You're a little late skippy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

However, going to the local JL dealer and negotiating price with them is the best option

PS: "that guy from JL" is Manville Smith //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

w6v2's get loud... i seriously think their xmax figures on their site are underestimates..
The W7 figures are slightly underrated...wouldn't be surprised if the W6v2's are aswell.

JL's Xmax figures are based on coil overhang rather than the BL/Kms curves.....

makes sense. i knew i wasn't going crazy. i've spent extensive time with w6v2's and there's no way in hell that fatty surround is only giving 18.x whatever xmax, not that it's a big deal or anything. if only i knew what the majority of what i was looking at was would i really get to appreciate those bad boys.

Yeah, Thats him, pretty cool guy. And like you say, most JL dealers will give a little on price if you go in and talk with them
