JL W1 - Will new box help SQ??

I recently purchased two JL W1 12" woofers. I have a Q-Logic Type 3 ported (port tube) box.....which is 1.75 cu ft per chamber (JL specs for W1).

JL says tune the box to 28hz, so I called up Q-Logic and asked them how to tune my box to 28hz. They asked for several specs on the sub, and told me the correct length of my port tube.

Now, I know these W1's should sound better than my RockFord P2's. They do in some aspects, but I'm not fully satisfied.

So I went down to the local car audio shop, and they sell a "slotted" box, 1.75 cu ft per chamber, it is built by "Audio Enhancers". They say it is built to JL's specs for the W1. The guy at the shop explained how port tube boxes aren't nearly as good as slot ported.

Is this box worth the $$?? I don't want to buy something that isn't going to help out with adding SQ to my system.

Any help would be much appreciated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

a lot of people say that "port" tuned boxes can get louder than slot tuned boxes, its all a matter of how much port area the box has. if it is equal, i dont think there would really be any difference between a slot port box and a tube port box.
