Recently i bought a 10' JL sub from a police auction i was wokring at and they do not explain there items very well but i bought it anyways. Is there any way of finding out which type of JL sub it is? ex. w1 w2 w3....!~ The subwoofer is in an enclosure which has plexi glass covering the sub. Is there a way that i can tell if it is a dual bandpass box or single?

how big is the box??? do you think it can fit one sub there or two?? also taking off the plxi glass would solve you the problem.. to find out what model it is, you can look in the back of the sub, it usually says it there.

No cause you can figure a lot of things with a multimeter

First off..take the sub out...it wont hurt it at all.

The back will most likely tell you what it is, if not there are other little discrete things to tell the difference. Depth of cone/diameter can tell you the difference between the w6/w3

plus the w6 if i remember correctly has a different sized hole behind wehre there sticker should be.

Figure resistance by putting a multimeter on one set of the terminals

say it reads 2ohm you have a dual two ohm subs

that is of course if it is a dual voice coil

Everything else I'd personaly have to look at to tell you what it is...

box wise

Well describe it bette
