I'd own an HD amp, but I'd never buy one if that makes sense. Great amps, Just WAY overpriced.

not if you find the right deal on them, I got the 900/5 for $650 from auth dealer.

love the amp, has just the right amount of power for my application, very small, and handles everything I need and achieves my "keep the stock and trunk" look I am after.

you can find a sundown 3500 around here for 600 or buy 3 new aq 2200 for around 1100 hell even a rockford 2k will go for around 800 im surprised jl hasn't priced themselves out the market yet,who will pay that much for 1000 watts?

Again, you can find a better deal on the MMats. The others are priced at what they are. Everything will still be cheaper than the JL, and as good if not better. You say you're not a JL nuthugger, but if you still think the HD 1200/1 is a good deal after what I showed you, than you most certainly are.

yes' date=' its small and **** sexii. its small and a great efficient amp, it probably is worth it for someone whos wiling to put out that much cash from an authorized dealer. its just that 90% of members here rather stick with cheaper priced amps. instead of the "mainstream" ****. but we all have to agree that jl along with some of the other big priced amps like mcintosh, audioson and zapco make some of the best amps. just cus sundown, dd and other-like brands make cheaper amps with similar output numbers doesnt mean their quality is as good. i honestly dont know all the math and detailed specifics of amps to compare a bunch of them or get crazy on detailed specs like i know some of you can. but i do know there is a differance in quality of hardware and how they are built and that this can all have an affect on over-all performance and sound quality. and obviously while we can find compareably priced amps, some of these bigger names do make better quality stuff.

id also gladly own any HD amp, but your right, they are way overpriced (for my budgets at least) which is why i dont own any HD amps, or any JL amp for that matter. if you look at my sig, i run sundown right now. and i love it. gets the job done and it only cost me like 200 bucks for 1200 watts rms. so great amp i have. im not all over JL's nuts, but i do appreciate good quality built hardware when i see it. id ******* love to run a zapco, ive always wanted to run one actually, but i never have cus of the prices on those things.

i really love the size of the HD. how beautiful it looks and how well im sure its built, but i wont buy one for 1000 either. im just waiting on this puppy to come out so it can start being on the market and hopefully i can buy one used or off of ebay for a few hundred less. =D

btw.. that massive amp does look pretty attractive due to price and specs. i have it in mind now, cus im looking to save trunk space now, my sundown is pretty big.

but eeh im iffy on it and skeptical, i wouldnt jump right on it for my vehicle. i guess i need to look more into it. reviews look good.

i dont think anyone is bragging about the 1200/1 being a good deal. cus obviously for most of us who are NOT rich, its not. so i dont think anyone is arguing about it being a good deal, and neither am i. im just saying its a good amp that ive been anticipated... minus the price tag on it

If it's OVERpriced, then it's obviously not worth it. If it's EXPENSIVE, then it's worth it if you can afford it.

Definitely not a looker, that one. But it's built in the U.S.A., unlike the JL. MUCH better quality than the JL.

JL isn't near the same league as Audison, Mcintosh, etc. You are confusing price with quality. Price is not always directly correlated with quality, and this is a perfect example. JL charges so much for their equipment because through their expert advertisement, they have the ability to so and still make a profit. Their amps aren't any better than MMats amps, but JL has their name out there, while MMats doesn't.

I already mentioned Bose before...they use some of the worst quality components and drivers, and invest a little into the enclosure design and directional technology. In the end, they make terrible speakers and charge a million for them. Their $1000 system isn't even near as good as a $500 setup from Yamaha. But Bose will still sell millions. When someone enters the home audio industry, the very first company they consider to be quality is Bose. This is true 90% of the time. Why? Advertising. They hype up their products, give them a quality "feel", and advertise EVERYWHERE. It's genius, but deceitful.

If it's overpriced, then that means that comparable amps can be bought for less. Don't waste your money.

im tired of noob ***** coming in here thinking jl is god and that there shiit is worth the money....jl is over priced by alot..ofcourse u have never heard of mmats and thats because all noobs think mainstream is the best stuff around....ITS NOT there are subs for half the price that will whoop the DUB 7 up and down the street and there are amps from non main stream companys that will put any jl amp to shame and stick it in the corner till its learned its lesson

Well, looking at the JL specs vs. MA specs, the JL wins hands down. Why? Because of the R.I.P.S technology. MA N3 makes 450 watts @ 4 ohms. The JL makes 1200 @ 1.5-4 ohm load. It also will make that power at only 11 volts whereas the MA needs 14.4 volts. What does that tell you?

Bottomline is JL makes really nice stuff. Now, you may not like their prices or you may just be a JL-hater because they are the big, mainstream brand. However, you would be hardpressed to point to something in the their catalog and say it was junk. Someone made the claim that MMATS was "MUCH better quality" because it is made in the US. Really? Can you prove that by quoting an A/B comparison test?

Is JL the end-all, be-all? No, of course not. But, dogging a manufacturer because of their prices isn't a real convincing argument either.

no I am not a JL nuthugger, never said I was. I also never said anything about the 1200/1, i just simply stated that you can find JL stuff at decent prices. I feel that the 900/5 is a **** good amp, show me another 5 channel amp with that kind of power, efficiency, foot print, etc.... I also agree that a lot of their stuff is pricey, do they make good quality ****, yes they do. Is it over priced, very easily so. I have used many of their products before and have always had great success and experience with them.

If I were going for a large amount of power again, I would seek out another PPI PC2350. Absolutely loved that amp as well as many of the original PPI PC series amps.
