JL Audio W7

I just got a JL audio 12 W7 and matched with a JL Audio HD 1200/1. The sub is a single 3ohm driver I think. What are options on wiring it? Is it just 3 ohms or can I also wire it to 1.5ohms and how would you do it?

You can only wire it to 3 ohm if it's a single 3 ohm unless you buy a 2nd one then you can wire it down to 1.5 ohm.

But wait a min.. doesn't your amp have R.I.P.S. technology? Then it shouldn't matter if you're at 3 ohm or 1.5 , you're still gonna get full potential out of the amp as long as your electrical can handle it.

Those JL amps do gain a little if you wire down the impedance but it's not going to be audible and definitely harder on the amp.

you can only run the 12w7 at 3 ohms, because its a single 3 ohm sub.  yould need 2 or more w7s to get a different impedance
