I was in walmart tonight and i was looking through this caraudio mag and i came across the new jl 12w3v3 and i was wondering if anybody has heard them yet

i hope that this time JL actually took a step in the right direction with the w3v3, because the w3v2 wasnt half the woofer that the w3 was.

My very first system was 2 10's of the (then new) 10w0's. To be honest, it was probably my favorite setup in my rx7. After that, i tried 2 12w3's (sounded muddy), and 1 Infinity kappa Perfect DVQ (sounded awesome, but not as loud as the 2 WO's).

Hopefully the new W3 will be a step forward in sound quality. But then again, i dont recal it being designed for that in the first place...

the w3v2 pops and slaps and bangs and cracks and makes all sorts of noises. i tried so many different boxes, and every one, even the one that the dealers have in their showrooms make the woofers do the same thing. the w3 never had those problems. and the w3 had just as much output, if not more and personally, i think it sounded 10x better.

I can't help it... both were in to-spec sealed boxes with good quality amps.

W3v3 will not be made available untill JL sell out their existing W3v2 inventory. Hopefully the release of these and the new A series amps doesn't turn into the waiting game that was the ZR components.

By the way, the W3v2 simply added the W cone from the W6v2 and W7 and received some perimeter venting above the top plate. Otherwise it was the same exact sub with a little extra thermal power handling. Although I will admit, the failure rate did seem to go up a bit with the v2's.

hmm, i think that with the w3's, but i like the w6v2s better than the v1's, just a personal preference though, both the w6 and w6v2 are great woofers.

i think the w-1's are better i have a set of 15 w-6's in my camaro and i think it sounds better that the v-2's
