great amps, some of the best built, great sound quality, clean power.....

but pricey. that is the only downside I see to the JL amps.

Hi i have a JL 500/1 amp and have recently brought a Vibe Space 15" 3000Watts sub (http://www.vibeaudio.co.uk) i was wondering how do i tune the amp so that it can send 20hz to the sub

From what i have seen, they (JL Audio Amps) look and sound great... They seem to be designed well and put out what they are rated too; or atleast seem too...

Like the rest of JLs products, I think they are just a bit overpriced... You can get more for less elsewhere and not suffer a trade for lack of quality...

erm, the amp is not responsible for generating tones, so your question about how to get the amp to send 20Hz to the sub does notmake sense. Hook the system up, and play a CD with a 20Hz tone, taht way, you'll get 20Hz from your sub.

i just saw their site, and now realise why you want to play a 20Hz tone.

You have to realise, playing very low frequencies very loud, theoretically, will not only kill cows but could also very well kill YOU.

Thankfully though, I don't think a JL500/1 with a single vibe sub is gonna be killing cows anytime soon. Lol~

I also have a 500/1, and that is a VERY underrated 500. I know for a fact that it will put out ATLEAST 650watts on 13.8 volts, however the amp cuts off at 8-9volts, but will never drop BELOW 500watts. I could have got a PG tantrum 1200.1 for cheaper than i got my 500/1, but i know, and love JLs quality, amps especially.

people always say Jl is too overpriced for the quality......nobody seems to back it up w/ a few brands that are cheaper but EQUAL or better in terms of quality

I wasted $350 on 2 inexpensive amps and spent more than $100 trying to get someone to professionally adjust gains and rework grounds and other wires trying to get rid of hiss. Noisy signal doesn't bother everyone, just like poorly adjusted subs don't bother the punks that pull up behind you at a stop light. But I was convinced that the signal to noise ratio and power ratings of the amps I bought were nothing but lies. After a couple months I finally convinced my wife to let me replace the junk amps I bought with the JL 500/5 amp. It's the best $900 ( $800+$100 installation) I've ever spent on car audio. The installer, highly respected in audio competition in my area, said only the new MQ Quart amps could come close to price / performance of a JL. When I compared the $800 I was going to spend for 5 channels of amplification, I didn't think it was pricey, and the footprint is an added bonus.
