Has anyone experience 5-10 second amp shut offs with JL amps?
This is my set up:
1000/1v2 JL AMP
450/4v2 JL AMP
2x - 10w3v2 JL SUBS
165 k2p Focal Component Speakers
165 cvx Focal Coaxial Speakers
Any time I blast the radio they would shut down for about 5 to 10 seconds, some times it's just the voices and not the bass, some times it's both. I've done the following to narrow down the causes..
-I've lowered the bass all the way down, happens less often while still blasting the radio, and when I say blasting, I mean clean sound, not distored noise.
-I could blast the bass and transfer sound to either front or rear speakers and amps shut off either after a while or at a higher listening level.
-Shut down sub amp completely via radio and could blast voices as high as the radio goes and the amps wouldn't shut off.
-Amps shut off more often with headlights on, and/or A/C on.
I was told by an associate at sound advice that this could be an electrical issue, and that this could be a sudden voltage drop of under 11volts which could shut off the amps and that a capacitor could fix this.
It was brought to my attention that it could be heat but I got into my car earlier today after my car being parked for 4 hours, in a garage, in a shaded area. I took of the panel behind my seat to allow air to circulate the amps as I drove with my windows down and the amps shut off after 10 minutes once I got it up to speed and wanting to listen to it loud.
What do you guys think?
OH, I drive a 2008 350z if that helps.. stock battery too.
