JL Amp Problem

Ok i just got a new radio installed in my cavalier the other day and was hooking up my amp (JL 250/1) and could not find a remote wire.....i finally decided to hook it up to the red 12v wire that makes the radio power up......the amp turned on and played good at low volume then i turned it up and it made a clicking noise and shut off.......i can unhook the power wire and the ground wire and just have the remote hooked up and the power light will blink very dimly......does the amp have a fuse inside of it or could it be something else??

things to do or look for:

do you have the manuals for either piece of equipment? there should be advice in there. Power wire requirements will also be listed.

What size power wire did you use? is this 'red wire' constant 12v or ACC?

disconnect all wiring to the amp, take the amp out and look at it. Look for fuses. Read up what you can about that amp, turn the gains all the way down and re-hook it up.
