JL 8w6 wiring options

i have a question on wiring a pair of JL 8w6 dual 6 ohm subs. my amp is an old school RF 500 A2, 125x2@4 and 250 x2 @ 2. what are my options? on the jl site, i read that if you run them in series=1.5 or 3 ohm load and parralel=6 or 12 ohm load. im am very confused to say the least. will i have to get a different amp or perhaps different subs? thanks

DVC 6 ohm subs, really really stupid

parallel each sub to 3 ohms and then hook a sub up to each channel so they will be getting about 180w each
