Cheap venting - opinions?

Two new and ultimately insane ideas:

1: Drill a good 2 3/4" hole in the back of a standard sealed enclosure, glue a threaded PVC pipe end on it. Bingo! Instant ported box, and if you don't like it, screw a cap on the PVC end. Use a cut funnel for that professional touch.

(OMG that is so redneck...)

2. Use 1/2" cube wood blocks to space the speaker from the box. Again, instant cheap reversable airflow!

(I did this on a pair of roadmaster 6.5s, WOW, they hit at least 50% harder...)

That's not all that crazy......people have been using PVC as ports for some time. However, when doing a ported box, box size/vent length become very important, so you would still need to get the port length and box size accurate.

Not quite sure what you mean there......just leaving a gap between the box and sub??

i dont use boxes anymore. i just put the sub on the outside of my door and let the magnet hold it in place. it gets loud as ****!!!!

10"-12" sub in a bucket.put a blanket in there so it doesnt rattle.

Tape the holes up, tape it on there.

Yeah, i did this before.

it was a Urban audioworks 12.
