The JL's put out right around their rated power.....not really underrated by too much.

Are the JL amps good? Yes.

Expensive? Yes.

Can you find just as good for less? Yeah.

There was a test done and some magazine benched a 500/1 at 550w I believe.

thats a fair increase in power, 10%. Though not noticeable when you actually power that to anything.

i have one. i bought it for 340 off ebay brand new. Its a wonderful amp.One of the good things about it is that it puts out at least 500 watts whether its at 14 volts or 12 volts and its very versatile when it comes to wiring a sub at 2-4 ohms.

JL amps have a very strict regulator built into them so they put out what they are rated at due to the regulator.
