I am trying to create a setup for someone who has this subwoofer, and a 500 watt kicker amp. The 10W6 that he has is supposed to be the 10W6v2, but the model information has been taken off of it. When I check it on the DMM, I get a 3.2 ohm reading without wiring it in parallel. When I wire it in parallel, I get 1.7ohms as the final load (generally this would be a 2 ohm load presented to the amp).
The serial # on the sub is JLW161921, and it was sold to him as a 10W6v2. I have never owned a JL sub (voice coil readings are always weird with the 6/3 ohm load mess), so I am reaching out to find out if he has been scammed. The sub has the small W6 badge at the bottom of the dust cap.
I'd hate to wire this up, and have him blow it since the other W6's only handle around 300 watts.
Appreciate the help in advance.
