JL 1000/1 VS. Alpine PDX 1.1000

Yeah, IDK about one in the back.... big 3 and a g31 or something similar up front would probably do rated. Then again with a stock alt, 2 batts may be needed. Probably depends more on the car and install than anything else, but I wouldn't expect the pdx to do rated off of a stock electrical.
I'm pretty sure you'd need a small battery in the back to keep the flow at 14 volts

but it also depends on teh car :p

too bad a JL will do rated on a stock electrical //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Full 14.4 to get the 1100-1200rms??
And to say the pdx is power hungry pretty much negates everything you just said:rolleyes:
it is, it needs 14.4 to get RMS

a JL slash series, any amp will do full regulated power @ 11 volts

you tell me the efficiency difference?

The PDX needs 14.4volts to reach the power on the birthsheet which is usually much higher than the rated power...

Example PDX1.1000: If its 1200 on the birthsheet @ 14.4V, then the amp will still put out MORE than the rated 1000W at a vehicles voltage.

(My truck with stock electrical has 13.85 V at the amp with the stereo running loud, A/C on, lights on.)

I.E. - You dont need 14.4 volts to get the "rated" power from the PDX

A more fair comparison to PDX is the new HD series from JL. My PDX1000.1 is rated at 1201 watts at 14.4. The slash series have a regulated power supply which will kill efficiency and has more features but is much bigger than PDXs. It depends on what your looking for....

too bad when you bass kicks in hard, you lose watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif with a PDX

(I wanna see a video where your truck is playing a loud volume on stock electrical maintaining 13.85 at the amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ima havfta call it the truth on this 1.

I'd say if you compared the HD to the PDX, JL definatly takes the cake.

Slash series I guess is argumenative

Really? I've read two reviews that said sound was muddy on the HD series. That makes me nervous (and the price)

Everyone that I know of that is using them raves about them. SQ guys, mostly. Mine are still sitting in the box in my bedroom. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I'm waiting on some interior stuff to get squared away before I can get them installed. And the price isn't that bad, really. Cheaper, watt for watt, than the Slash amps.

And they aren't "much" bigger than the PDX amps, for the guy that said that. I guess "much" is a relative term, but they are small, stackable amps, so...

Yea, I did some more searching and did see some more raves about the features, but not much from actual owners. They are sweet, but very pricey. I have Sundownz but they take up too much space in my trunk and I am contemplating the PDX or if I can swing it with the wife, the HDs. Just not sure if I NEED the HDs, but d@m if they aren't tempting.

what do you mean by the regulated power supply will kill effeciencey? do you mean "kill" in a good way or bad way???
