JL 1000/1 VS. Alpine PDX 1.1000

it has a ssf just its off 15, 30, 45 I believe I have to check though.
Oh really, my bad. I looked at the specs and I saw no mention -- I asked a freaking dealer about it and they said it did not. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Good to know, thanks.

LOL, no. I still haven't really decided whether to use the GTR's or not. I am going to try one in a sealed box and see if I can get a feel that way.

So, did you go right by the MFTR"s specs on the box? The reason I ask is that I have room to do more, I just don't know whether that would be better or worse (if I go with the GTR that is).

Yup, the JL's run cooler then the PDX's
I think the PDX is a great amp, since it will fit anywhere, but if you got teh space go with a JL, since it will do rated at any voltage, and it has more settings then a PDX amp. So finer tunning

So IMO:

Overall:

JL>PDX>PG

Size:

PDX>JL=PG

Cooling

JL>PDX>PG

Sound Customization

JL>PG>PDX

Looks

PDX>JL=PG
???Have you owned all 3??? I have owned 2 of the 3...Havent got my hands on a PDX yet..But from what I have read it will pwn the other 2 overall

What about efficiency??

The PDX is one of the most efficient amps you can buy period..

Not sure where you got that the cooling on the JL is so great...My PG stayed cooler then my JL in the same exact setup..

What about bang for your buck??

The PG is the only one that will go to 1ohm with out going into protect...and it puts out the most power, My birthsheet said 1468rms 1-4ohms:)

The only thing the JL has over the other to is the customization..I cant knock the quality of any of them all 3 are amazing pieces of art

but overall

pdx>PG>JL

Every birthsheet that I have seen for a PDX amp shows significantly more power than whats it rated.
My friends 1000 showed 1170 @14.4V on the birthsheet... So, yes you will get at LEAST the 1000 rated watts.

the PDX4.100 usualy rate from 120-130 @ 14.4.

They are underrated
pictures or it didn't happen

I did the .5 on each after displacement with the gtr's tuned to 30 hz. Sounds fantastic and gets really loud I believe they can handle alot more power though. the subs still move more than the gtrs which is surprising.

Yes I have owned all 3, and I have used all 3 in the same application

PDX is great for small spaces, and the PG is great for 1 ohm levels, but it has shut down on me once from a 1 ohm load.

The JL 1000/1 and 500/1 have never done anything but perfrom at their absolute best with and without abuse.

If you can snag one for cheap, more power to ya.

Honestly I have never seen a JL birthsheet??? And benchtests are worthless..I can write whatever I want to on the paper and people would believe it
Benchtests are worthless? really, then we shouldnt believe anything that any company says about their amps?

What should we believe?

I dont think JL has birthsheets like Alpine. THe RIPS power supply in the JL amps keeps the amp from producing more or less than the rated power (within a certain amount) i.e. they dont put out more power with higher voltage.

Believe wat you want..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I should have worded it differently...From a shop..not a company...If I wanted to sell all the Planet Audio in my shop of course I would claim it did tons of power..Shady business but they would be selling like hot cakes....and about 90% of the people that bought them would not have any idea

user error???

why isnt the PG not good for anything but 1ohm levels???

Why isnt the pdx great for nothing but small spaces???

Please elaborate??

I didn't say "its good for anything but" anywhere, so don't change my wording!

If you're guna qoute me, do it right

Just back up what you say please...Thats all I ask...
Also have you ever seen a JL birthsheet??
JL Audio never makes birthseet because their RIPS technonlogy means they will put out same power 11 volt to 16 volt 1.5-4 ohm load

And I have never seen a PDX birthsheet and have yet to find one on the net, if you have a link to pic give it to me please.

I think the technology of the JL slash series amps is far more better then then PDX or PG.

Especially their slash v2 and the HD series.

Now like I said, I don't want to diss on alpine or PG, as I still have my PDX and its a pretty kick *** amp, but I don't think it a better amp then a JL slash series
