JL 1000/1 problem

i got a semi broken 1000/1

it playes music but as if it was powered by the radio. so it seems like its putn out 50 watts rms instead of 1000

im hoping i can just replace some main thing in the amp , like one of those donut looknthings with the wires wound around it. lol i dont know the name. and im not to good with amps.

any suggestion of whats wrong

everything is normal xcept output and the whole amp is set correctly.

or any suggestions of where to get it fixed

Honestly at first I would say make sure your crossover is set right and your outputs on your deck are correct.

Secondly, the donut thing is called a coil, and it doesn't just stop working as well...

Honestly it sounds like a tuning issue.

ha well its not a tuning issue,

i know how to set an amp

its all set correctly

im hoping sum1 here knows why an amp acts like it can only put out 50 watts,

When i had mine i believe i read in the manual about the amp going to half power if the power going to it isnt enough. Something of that nature. Go to jl audio's website and check the pdf file for the 1000/1, it should be in there.

nope couldnt find anythn,, i bet its sumtn realy simple , i just have no idea what

isnt there an input voltage selection switch? Where is that set?

u can chose high or low , i chose low then i tried high,,, im telln u its not in the settings i need to replace sumtin in the amp,

ive owned a 500/1 before so i know how to set these amps.

maybe sum1 knows the piece in the amp the deals with the rca signal or what conducts the power,, or sumtin!

ha i think its just to hard to pinpoint just from discription,, sum1smarter then me needs to take a look at it.... like JL but they want 180 to fix it...
