JL 1000/1; Need HO alternator?

I was thinking of running a JL 1000/1. I'm figuring it draws about 100 amps or so at full volume (rare for me). My stock alt puts out 125 amps. Do you guys think I'll kill the alt with this amp? Dimming lights really bother me too. I got some quotes from Dom Iraggi for a HO alt, but I only have a 27 month lease, so I'd prefer not to swap the alt.

These are the quotes I got from Dom. Good prices, but I don't think I want the headache.

220 amps $359

240 amps $379

260 amps $399

280 amps $419

300 amps $439

Thanks.

I haven't bought the amp yet, but I'm basing my amp/sub choice on my alternator's output. I dont want to go with a huge amp, and not be able to feed it. So you think it's worth a shot running off the stock alt?

you should be fine. I'm running 1kw RMS between my two amps (though wont be seen unless playing a 50hz + 2khz tone at the same time)

My stock alt is 117amp and I BARELY see dimming at midnight.

Sounds good! Now I just have to figure out exactly what to buy! I'm not 100% sure about the JL 1000/1. I know its rock solid, but its pricey.

Thanks guys.

Dom
