JBL VS JL support your decisions

im not a true audiophile, i dont have super trained ears. i will not be entering any sq competions. I DO want a great sounding sub (my goal isnt "to be heard from 3 miles away", or "to shake the concrete"). it needs to sound amazing, be accurate, and yet still get satisfyingly loud. which sub would make me happier

cant help you with the sub decision but my jbl power series amps are by far the best amps ive owned!

it's pretty close, i thing the JL would be louder and sound a little better because they are under-rated (they can handle just as much as the GTI), and they have a greater surface area

it LOOKS like the jbl could freakin swallow the jl lol... but people are saying it can hang in terms of output?

of course the jl will be super accurate adn sound amazing, but im afraid its gunna be too weak for my liking

the jbl looks like it oculd take a serious beating

keep in mind the GTI only recomends 700watts RMS,

the JL recomends 500, but it can both take more than that, and it has a larger surface area, and i'm not sure but i think a larger X-max

well, box a sub right, give it the right power etc, and most subs can easily make you go deaf and be plenty hard hitting anyway...

I wouldn't be too concerned with a sub having a lack of kick at all, the first set ive ever had were alpine type Es, two 12s. Yes since then i've had much more powerful systems, but the 2 12s were still **** loud as shit and i lost a lot of hearing from them, just from two 12s, and type Es at that!! :[[

I'm running a single 10 type X now and very much underpowered, but still plenty powerful enough for my taste.

Do you have box size limitations btw? Will you be able to accomodate the proper box to the suggested sub specs?

the W6 uses a smaller box for ported design and sealed design unless you polyfill the shit out of it

i dont care about street cred and to that extent i would rather have the jbl because its fairly unheard of around here

but none of that really matters i just want performance

im leaning towards the jbl as of right now, because i think it will have a little more kick, but the jl does have more surface area.... hmmmmm
